Gut Wars is based on state-of-the-art research simulations of bacteria in the human gut.
Bacteria have evolved an array of clever strategies to survive and thrive. Scientists study these using the same type of computer simulations seen in the game. These simulations can predict how competing bacteria will interact, helping us to understand how they evolve, and how they might respond to changes, such as antibiotic treatments or infections.
Gut Wars is based on research by Professor Kevin Foster's lab in the Department of Zoology and Department of Biochemistry at the University of Oxford.
B.O. & Beyond is a collaborative research project between the University of Oxford and the University of York to understand the science behind body odor.
